Spritely is a project to advance the federated social network by adding richer communication and privacy/security features to the network. This particular sub-project aims to demonstrate how user interfaces can and should play an important role in user security.
Technical decentralization alone does not protect users if security features are buried in settings nobody reads. Spritely targets the gap between what federated protocols can offer and what people actually experience in daily use.
Poor security UX drives users back to convenient centralized apps that feel safe but harvest their data. By demonstrating how interfaces can make privacy and safety visible and actionable, Spritely reduces the risk that decentralization remains a niche option for experts while everyone else stays on surveillance platforms.
