Mobilizon is a free, federated platform for events and groups. It is not a general social feed: the point is to publish gatherings, run a group page, keep a small forum, and share links — without building a behavioural graph for ads.
Instances interconnect with ActivityPub. One account can have several profiles. NGI0 Discovery funded better search (on one instance and across the federation), recommendations by interest or location, and import from other platforms when possible. Website: mobilizon.org.
Mobilizon runs on infrastructure communities control—no single canonical host. The live instances below are examples only; deploy your own with the generic docs.
Generic (Mobilizon project): docs.joinmobilizon.org.
Example instances (live):
| Instance | Notes |
|---|---|
| mobilizon.fr | Framasoft / French-language instance |
| mobilizon.picasoft.net | Picasoft associative host |
Event tools on Facebook and Meetup collect who organises with whom, where they meet, and which causes they follow. For activists and local groups that social graph is a liability, not a feature.
Mobilizon moves events onto servers communities control. Federation means a local instance can still discover gatherings elsewhere. Users still trust their instance operator, but they are not feeding a global advertising profile every time they publish a meeting.
